Assumptions:
- It is important that luminous flux output is compared like with like. For example do not compare 4 Watts down light with 7 Watt LED down light. The lumen output of light will be much lower. For e.g. if a led light source produces 50Lm/ Watt, the light output of a 4 Watt down light = 200 lumens; whereas, the light output from a 7 Watt led down light will be 350 lumens.The halogen spot lights are very inefficient. The 10 Watt spot light will only produce near 250 Lumens.

Unlike typical conventional light sources, LEDs do not fail catastrophically; they do not dramatically burn out and cease to function. In many applications LED’s will last for more than 10 years of operation.

Solid state lighting will lasts at least 10 times longer than a typical light source, there is no need to replace the light source, thereby reducing or even eliminating ongoing maintenance costs and periodic re-lamping expenses.
